Sony postpones Xperia 5 VI release indefinitely due to strategy review
Sony has postponed the release of its new mid-range smartphone, the Xperia 5 VI, indefinitely. According to Japanese media, the company is reviewing its strategy due to changing consumer preferences, which are increasingly opting for devices with large screens, such as the flagship Xperia 1 VI.
Here's What We Know
Earlier, the Xperia 5 VI was expected to be a new mid-range premium smartphone, but now Sony has decided to focus on extending the life of the current model, the Xperia 5 V. This step shows that the company is adapting its product line to new market trends.
It is known that Sony is working on three new smartphone models, the numbers of which are PM-1502-BV, PM-1503-BV and PM-1504-BV, which were found in the IMEI database. Details about these devices have not yet been disclosed.
There is also information that Sony's new flagship, the Xperia 1 VII, may receive an updated camera with larger sensors. However, given that the Xperia 1 VI was only introduced in May 2024, the possible release of the Xperia 1 VII should not be expected in the near future.
