Pixel 9 Pro Fold: The display detaches from the body and does not withstand strength tests

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold did not show significant improvements in durability tests, as shown by JerryRigEverything.

Here's What We Know

The screen with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 will scratch at level six, and the internal display with Ultra Thin Glass - at level two. Even fingernails can leave marks on the display.

The phone is made of aluminium alloy, and the folding mechanism is made of multi-alloy steel. When the mechanism comes into contact with dirt and sand, it starts to rattle due to the lack of dust protection.

When closed, the phone passes the bending test without any problems. However, when it is opened and bent from the back, difficulties arise. The left and right rear panels do not provide enough support.

The problem lies in the antenna lines near the folding mechanism. In this test, the display detaches from the body, but the mechanism remains intact.

For comparison, the Samsung Fold 6 survived a similar test without serious damage.

The video also shows the disassembly of the phone. There's a large battery under the cover screen, and a smaller battery and motherboard in the other part. USB-C is on a separate board for easy repair.

It is noted that the heat dissipation is through the back of the device, which may not be very effective due to the plastic folding screen.
