The Ukrainian Armed Forces recently received 18 self-propelled artillery units Bohdan, the production of which was financed by Denmark.

Here's What We Know

Denmark became the first EU country that decided to finance the production of Ukrainian weapons and equipment. "Bogdana" is a Ukrainian self-propelled artillery unit of 155 mm calibre, adopted into service last year. Thus, Ukrainian manufacturers made 18 units for the AFU with Danish money.

As Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen noted during his speech at the Yalta European Strategy (YES), Denmark submitted an order for the production of 18 SAU in July, and already this weekend they were handed over to Ukrainian servicemen.

He also emphasised that it is much cheaper and easier to produce weapons in Ukraine than to manufacture or buy them from the West. It is also cheaper to maintain its combat capability. Therefore, the Danish Defence Minister urged European countries to finance the production of weapons in Ukraine.
