Bloomberg: Apple is still working on an Apple Watch SE smartwatch with a coloured plastic case
Right now, the Apple Watch SE smart watch (or rather, its case) is made of aluminium, but a couple of months ago there were rumours that Apple wanted to change the design and materials. As of now, those plans haven't gone anywhere.
Here's What We Know
As reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, as of today, an updated Apple Watch SE with a plastic case is still in development. It is expected to be a watch in a variety of bright colours that is primarily aimed at children.
According to Mark Gurman, Apple apparently faced some cost and quality issues in switching from aluminium to plastic. But he believes the project is still moving forward.
The plastic Apple Watch SE is expected to be released next year. The current model costs from $249, and the updated model should be more affordable by using budget materials.
