Team Liquid became The International 2024 Dota 2 champions with a brilliant victory over Gaimin Gladiators
The International 2024 Dota 2 Championship has come to an end in Copenhagen.
The tournament took place from 4 to 15 September and, as always, attracted a lot of attention.
Here's What We Know
16 teams fought for the victory, and in the final two strongest European teams: Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators.
Over the past two seasons, these teams have repeatedly fought each other and faced off in five grand finals of major tournaments, and the Gladiators have always been stronger. At The International 2024, however, that trend was broken and Team Liquid defeated their main rival twice - on 14 September with a 2-0 win in the Top Grid Final, and in the Grand Final, the team showed an incredible level of play and left the Gaimin Gladiators no chance, winning 3-0 to become the champions of The International XIII.
Team Liquid's roster consists of five titled players:
- *miCKe* Michael Vu.
- *Michał Jankowski.
- *33* Neta Shapira.
- *Boxi* Samuel Svahn.
- *iNSaNiA* (captain) Aydin Sarkohi.
Notably, Neta *33* Sapira is a two-time champion of The International - he lifted the trophy with Team Tundra in 2022.
It is also interesting that Team Liquid is the team with the highest average age of players.
The prize pool for The International 2024 is $2.5 million, which is a small amount compared to, for example, 2021 when $40 million was awarded.
Congratulations to Team Liquid on a well-deserved victory - they've come a long way!
