Matt Reeves did not take part in the filming process of the Penguin series to concentrate on creating a script for the Batman sequel
On 19 September, the Penguin series will premiere, which takes place after Batman (2022). However, the director of the last Dark Knight film decided not to take part in the series, and here's why.
Here's What We Know
One of the reasons was the actors' strike in the summer of 2023, which shifted the development and premiere schedule of many films for years to come. For example, Batman 2 won't be released until October 2026, so Matt knew he simply couldn't take on another project and focused on developing the script for the Batman sequel.
However, he also added: "But you know what, who knows what's going to happen in the future, you know?" As if hinting that we will have another series in the Batman universe.
The series will start immediately after Batman and will show how Oswald Cobblepot is expanding his influence on Gotham and becoming an even bigger criminal mastermind in the city.
The Penguin will have 8 episodes, which will be released weekly. Lauren LeFranc is the writer and showrunner. Matt Reeves, the director of Batman, is the executive producer.
