Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2 introduces the ability to limit battery charging to 80 per cent for Pixel devices
Google has started rolling out Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2, which includes a useful feature for Pixel device owners - the ability to limit battery power to 80 per cent.
Here's What We Know
This feature was introduced back in the first beta, but back then users saw a notification to enable the charge limit, but it didn't turn off. Now the bug has been fixed and there is a new "Charge Optimisation" menu in the Battery section where you can enable or disable the charge limit.
This feature helps to extend battery life by preventing rapid battery degradation. When the battery is charged to 100%, the battery cells are put under significant stress, which can degrade the battery over time. Limiting charging to 80% reduces this stress.
By enabling this option, users will see a shield icon on top of the battery in the status bar, and the widget, lock screen, and AOD mode will indicate that charging is complete. Google is expected to update the Pixel support documentation after the official launch of Android 15 QPR1 in December.
