In late August, PlayStation 5 users discovered that The Evil Within, a horror game from Tango Gameworks, had disappeared from the PS Store and the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium catalogues without prior warning.

Neither party commented on the game's disappearance, but it was clear that it was a technical issue rather than a conscious decision by the developer or publisher.

Here's What We Know

Gamers complained that even downloading the purchased game was causing problems, but the situation has been resolved today.

The Evil Within is once again available on the Japanese console.

It is assumed that the reason for the disappearance of the game was a problem with backwards compatibility of the horror game on PS5, because of which it was decided to temporarily remove the game from sale. The game is now working correctly and appears in the PS Store and PlayStation Plus catalogue, but no official comment has been made.
