Finally, Electronic Arts representatives have revealed the first official information about the new part of the famous Battlefield shooter series.

The head of Respawn Entertainment studio and the head of the franchise Vince Zampella gave an exclusive interview to IGN portal, in which he shared the details of the new game and showed its first concept art.

Here's What We Know

All we can say about the artwork is that it confirmed Battlefield's return to the theme of modern warfare.

As for the details of the game, from Zampella's interview we can highlight the following theses:

  • Full production of the new Battlefield started in early 2024. Five studios are working on it: Respawn, DICE, Motive, Ripple Effect and Criterion;
  • internal testing of the new part is carried out once a week, and in 2025 they plan to involve gamers in this process through a kind of "community programme";
  • Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 are being used as the main reference points for development, as they are what Zampella considers to be the best in the series.

The head of development admitted that many elements of the last part - Battlefield 2042 - turned out frankly unsuccessful and will not be used in the new game. For example, the team will abandon the huge maps for 128 players, because they were empty, boring and uninteresting. The maximum number of players in the as yet unnamed Battlefield will be limited to sixty-four, but they will be beautiful, thoughtful and intelligently designed maps, which are interesting to fight on.

"Under the knife" will go and the system of operatives, instead of them in the new game will return traditional for Battlefield classes. Zampella is sure that they fit better than nominally unique, but faceless characters from Battlefield 2042.

Vince Zampella didn't even give a tentative release date for Battlefield.
