The iPhone 16 series smartphones will be able to be wirelessly restored
The iPhone 16 will reportedly have a feature that allows you to restore the device's software wirelessly.
Here's What We Know
This feature, known as RecoveryOS, is already in use on the Apple Watch and Apple TV. Now, iPhone 16 users will be able to restore their devices by simply placing it next to another iPhone or iPad running iOS 18 or iPadOS 18. Recovery will happen over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, eliminating the need to connect the iPhone to a computer with a cable. RecoveryOS will download the latest version of iOS to the second iPhone or iPad and transfer it to the damaged iPhone.
The new iPhone 16 models have a special recovery partition that manages the process even if the main iOS partition fails to boot. It is not yet known whether RecoveryOS will require additional hardware features to work and whether it will be available on older iPhone and iPad models.
