Huawei unveils Watch GT 5 series: new TruSense system and up to 14 days of battery life
Huawei has presented the Watch GT 5 series. The new collection features two versions of the smartwatch: the standard Watch GT 5 and the multifunctional Watch GT 5 Pro, available in 42 mm and 46 mm sizes.
Here's What We Know
The new series retains the aesthetic style of its predecessors, but offers improved health tracking thanks to the TruSense system. Let's take a look at the details.
The Watch GT 5 series has a classic round dial with sharp edges. The Vanilla model is made of stainless steel, while the Pro is made of aerospace-grade titanium alloys and nanocrystalline ceramics. There are few design differences from previous models, but the new health tracking features are impressive.
The TruSense system combines data from new sensors that monitor respiration rate, blood oxygen levels, body temperature, blood pressure and heart rate. This provides more accurate and faster results.
Both models are equipped with TruSense, but the Pro has an additional ECG analysis function that allows you to easily capture ECG waves. The Pro model also has specialised features for trail running and freediving. Trail runners get access to navigation and topographic maps, while freedivers can enjoy water resistance up to 40 metres.
Golfers will also benefit: The GT 5 Pro offers 3D course mapping for over 15,000 courses worldwide.
Huawei promises up to 14 days of battery life for the 46mm models and 7 days for the 42mm. All models are compatible with Android and iOS and support Bluetooth calling.
Price and availability
Prices for the new watches start at £229.99 for the standard Watch GT 5 and go up to £329.99 for the Pro model. Pre-orders are open from 19 September to 22 October, and customers will receive free Huawei FreeBuds 5i headphones and a free 3-month membership to Huawei Health+.
