As part of the iOS 18 update, Apple has introduced new accessibility features for CarPlay users. These include voice control, colour filters, and sound recognition, which should make it easier to use the system.

Here's What We Know

Voice control allows users to navigate the CarPlay menu and control applications using voice commands only. This is useful for those with limited mobility. Sound Recognition alerts drivers and passengers with hearing impairments to audible signals such as sirens.

For colour-blind users, colour filters will help make the interface easier to understand, and options such as bold and large text will make it even easier to read.

These new features can be controlled through the Settings app in CarPlay. Just go to "Special features" to configure "Sound recognition" and "Voice control".
