Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov says that Ukraine has reached verbal agreements with its Western partners on financing its missile programme.

Here's What We Know

According to the head of the ministry, the partners have already given their verbal consent to finance the programme, as it is one of the top priorities.

Today, the Ministry of Defence has assumed full responsibility for the development of products under this programme to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with long-range weapons.

"Since this year, the Ministry of Defence has been taking the lead in this matter, we have developed a missile programme," Umerov assured.

The development of missile systems is a strategic and vital area for Ukraine, as products of this type must be independent, with minimal use of foreign components.

"It is powerful enough, we have already exchanged with our partners and we are waiting to see how much of the capacity we have to build missiles and drones they will support. But they have already given us a verbal agreement that they will finance this," the Defence Minister added.
