Here's What We Know

This was reported by the agency DSCA (Defence Security Cooperation Agency). The price of the contract is $114 million. It will include 218 missiles and 107 launchers. In addition, the Bulgarian Army will receive simulators for training and logistical support. A joint venture between Lockheed Martin and RTX Corporation (Raytheon Technologies) will fulfil the contract.

Flashback

The Javelin FGM-148F is the latest version of the Javelin man-portable anti-tank missile system developed by the US companies Raytheon and Lockheed Martin. The FGM-148F features an improved warhead that combines fragmentation and shaped charge elements, which allows it to engage not only armoured vehicles, but also fortified structures and enemy personnel.

The Javelin FGM-148F retains all the key advantages of previous versions, including the "shoot and forget" principle, which allows the operator to quickly change position after the missile is launched. The system is equipped with an infrared homing system, making it effective in all weather conditions and low visibility. The Javelin FGM-148F is used by infantry to fight tanks and other armoured vehicles at a range of up to 4 km.
