According to insider information from @UniverseIce, Samsung is planning to use the same main camera sensor in its upcoming Galaxy S25 and S26 models as it did in previous models starting with the Galaxy S22.

Here's What We Know

Starting with the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus models from 2022, the company is using a 50-megapixel, 1/1.56-inch sensor in its S-series smartphones. Despite user expectations that the new models will get improved cameras, Samsung seems to be taking a conservative approach to hardware upgrades for its base and Plus flagships.

This decision may disappoint many as competitors such as the OnePlus 12, Google Pixel 9 and Xiaomi 14 already offer larger sensors that offer better low-light photo quality. While software is important for photo quality, hardware upgrades also play a significant role. Therefore, we can only expect significant improvements in 2027, when Samsung might introduce new sensors for its base flagships.
