Don't Nod disappointed with sales of Banishers and Jusant: the studio is rethinking the work on future games
The end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 seemed to be a pretty good period for Don't Nod, the studio known for Life is Strange, as it released a small and cosy game called Jusant (which became one of our favourite indie games of the last year) and an action-RPG called Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Each of these games was warmly received by critics and players, but sales left Don't Nod disappointed.
Here's What We Know
Unfortunately, these games did not achieve the commercial results that the studio had hoped for, which led to a deterioration in the half-year results for 2024 and forced it to consider all possible options for future plans.
Also, in the first half of 2024, Don't Nod's operating revenues decreased by 11% to €14.6 million compared to €16.5 million in the first half of 2023.
This led to the temporary suspension of two projects under development in Paris (P12 and P13). This decision will allow us to prioritise the allocation of resources and maximise the chances of success for projects that currently have the greatest potential, such as Lost Records: Bloom & Rage.
In addition, two more in-house projects (P10 and P14), which are scheduled for release by the end of 2027, have been reoriented to a wider audience, which means abandoning certain developments.
