Snapchat is enhancing the capabilities of its My AI chatbot with Google Gemini AI
Snapchat has expanded its partnership with Google Cloud to utilise the generative AI capabilities of Google Gemini in its My AI chatbot.
Here's What We Know
The My AI chatbot will now be able to process text, audio, images and video, allowing users to, for example, translate photos of street signs or choose the healthiest dishes on a menu. Since integrating Gemini into My AI, interactions with the chatbot have increased more than 2.5 times in the US.
Snap first launched My AI in February 2023 using ChatGPT from OpenAI. The company is now using Google's AI models to allow the chatbot to process images, video and text. After integrating Gemini into My AI, interactions with the chatbot in the US increased 2.5 times.
Snap CEO Evan Spiegel said that the partnership with Google Cloud helps to better serve its community of users, allowing them to quickly learn new things and share them with friends. However, despite the benefits, there are concerns about possible risks to users, especially children, if the chatbot is made overly functional.
