Nothing is preparing to release a new version of its operating system, Nothing OS 3.0, which will be beta-tested in October 2024.
Here's What We Know
The final release is scheduled for December. This version of the OS will be a significant upgrade focused on improving usability and performance.
The main changes in the interface are as follows
- Quick settings: New customisation features will be added, including easy access to automatic brightness adjustment.
- Lock screen: Updated design with new watch face options and more space for widgets. Users will be able to personalise their screen even more.
- Gallery: The updated Nothing Gallery will be even faster and more convenient for users who like to edit or view photos with easy switching between camera and gallery for repeated shots.
- Fonts and design: Nothing changes its approach to fonts slightly, favouring readability and a clean layout. Although the famous "dot" font will not be so prominent, the company will retain its elements in the interface, for example, when scanning fingerprints.
- Artificial intelligence: The app drawer uses AI to sort apps and highlight those that you use most often. If the AI doesn't live up to expectations, you can manually pin your favourite apps to the top of the list.
- Widgets: New widgets include a countdown widget to keep track of events and shared widgets to sync data with friends.
If you want to try out Nothing OS 3.0 early, keep an eye out for the public beta launch in October. For everyone else, the final release of the system is expected in December 2024.
