Ghost of Yōtei is announced - the game takes place 300 years after Tsushima, and we will play as a girl

They decided to end the State of Play presentation on a high note, as Sucker Punch showed their new game in the Ghost of Tsushima universe.

Here's What We Know

Ghost of Yōtei was announced, which is not a sequel to Tsushima. The authors wanted to preserve the basic principles of Ghost of Tsushima: to play as a wandering warrior in feudal Japan, to offer the freedom to explore the world at your own pace.

However, they also wanted to do something fresh, so they moved away from the story of Sakai and the island of Tsushima. The authors wanted to explore what it might mean to have a new hero wearing the Ghost mask and unveiling a new legend. This led them to Ghost of Yōtei: a new protagonist, a new story, and a new region of Japan.

We play as a woman named Atsu, and the story takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. The story takes place in the lands surrounding Mount Yotei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, the region of Japan known today as Hokkaido.

When We Can Expect It

The game will be released in 2025 for PlayStation 5 only.
