We have already written more than once that the Ukrainian army is using modern Skynex anti-aircraft systems. Now a video of the system's operation has appeared on the Internet.

Here's What We Know

Demonstration video was published by the press service of the Air Command "West" of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The video shows how servicemen of air defence units perform practical firing from an anti-aircraft installation. It is not yet known how many of these systems are in service with the AFU.

Flashback

Skynex is a modern modular short-range anti-aircraft system developed by the German company Rheinmetall. Skynex is designed to defend against a variety of airborne threats including drones, helicopters, aircraft as well as cruise missiles. The main element of the system is the 35mm Oerlikon Revolver Gun Mk3 automatic cannon, which has high rate of fire and accuracy.

Skynex utilises a digital fire control system with the integration of radar and optical sensors to effectively track and engage targets in real time. Due to its modularity, the system can be adapted to different combat scenarios, including the defence of strategic targets and mobile units.

An important feature of Skynex is the ability to integrate with other anti-aircraft systems and to be used as part of a multi-level air defence system.
