Google has confirmed that all Pixel Buds models will now be able to use Gemini LLM. This became possible thanks to an update that improves the performance of AI assistants on Bluetooth headphones.

Here's What We Know

In an email sent to users, the company explained the new features of Gemini and Assistant. The "Hey Google" activation phrase remains, but now it is controlled through the AI assistant settings on Android devices.

Now, to activate "Hey Google" in the headphones, you need to enable this feature on a connected phone or tablet. Previously, Pixel Buds could only access Assistant via voice or touch control. These changes will make it easier to interact with Gemini for all models of Pixel Buds, including the A-series and Pro.

Google noted that users will be able to receive personalised responses without having to unlock their phone. This is only if the headphones remain connected. However, the new feature is limited to regions where Gemini is available, and Google has not yet provided details on possible firmware updates for existing devices.
