Samsung has unveiled a new version of its budget-friendly Galaxy Watch FE smartwatch, now with LTE support. The cellular model costs $249.99, which is $50 more than the Wi-Fi version that was released earlier this year. It will be available to buyers from 3 October.

Here's What We Know

Galaxy Watch FE has become an affordable alternative to premium models such as Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. This version of the watch is actually a rebranding of the Galaxy Watch 4, but with a few updates, including a new strap with a quick-release mechanism and sapphire crystal for greater durability.

The watch has a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 396×396 pixels, which provides a vivid image and supports the Always-on Display function. At the heart of the device is the Exynos W920 chipset, a 5nm processor that runs at 1.18GHz and provides ample performance, along with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The body of the watch is made of aluminium and it is 5ATM, IP68 and MIL-STD-810H rated, making it resistant to water, dust and shock. The battery capacity is 247 mAh.

In addition to LTE support, the Galaxy Watch FE features NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS. The watch runs One UI 5 Watch based on Wear OS 4 and supports numerous health and physical activity tracking features, including heart rate, blood oxygen levels and fitness modes.

This autumn, Samsung promises to add new features such as Energy Score and an improved sleep tracking algorithm with the One UI 6 Watch update.

Samsung Camera Controller and Bixby voice assistant are also supported on the Galaxy Watch FE.

Samsung is already taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Watch FE LTE. The watch is available in three colours: black, silver and rose gold.
