Google Messages is preparing a new feature to help users distinguish between international spam messages. Unknown texts from international senders will be automatically grouped into a separate folder called "between countries".

Here's What We Know

This solution aims to improve user security and help avoid phishing attempts.

As spam remains lucrative for its attackers, Google is constantly improving its tools to detect and block it. An analysis of the app's code showed that the new category of messages will be available to users, who will be able to enable or disable this feature in the settings.

In addition to the main inbox, Google Messages already has the ability to mark messages as spam or block them. With the new option, users will be able to more easily identify suspicious messages coming from abroad.

This initiative is a response to the growing threats as spammers are increasingly using RCS technology to send unsolicited messages.
