With the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, drones are mostly mentioned in the information space as an indispensable attribute of combat operations. They are classified as strike, reconnaissance, ground, maritime, FRV, cargo and evacuation. But it should not be forgotten that the small aircraft was created for peaceful purposes and is often used for photo and video filming and helps to show the beauty of our world.

Here's What We Know

The winners of the Drone Photo Awards 2024 were announced last weekend in Siena, Italy.

The photos were submitted in different categories, but were necessarily taken from a drone flight, and we want to show some of the most interesting works.

The photo "Sliding in Space" was named Photo of the Year and (in case anyone didn't realise) shows tourists swimming in the cold waters of the Baltic Sea near Sweden:

The incredibly beautiful Chinese city of Guiyang City in Guizhou Province.
A small fraction of the millions of pink flamingos that flock to Lake Logipi, Kenya.
A floating market in Bangladesh
The city of Irpin (Ukraine) after liberation from Russian forces (May 2022).
Storm
Resting elephants
Muslim worship (Bangladesh)
In the drone video competition, Ukrainian cameraman Vlad Vasylkevych's eloquently titled "A Million Bombs Earlier", which shows the beauty of Ukraine before the war, is the winner of the Drone Photo Awards.
