Apple recalls watchOS 11.1 beta 3 after complaints about devices freezing

Apple released watchOS 11.1 beta 3 the other day, but was soon forced to withdraw the latest beta due to serious bugs that caused devices to freeze.

Here's What We Know

Users who installed the beta update on their Apple Watch experienced issues that caused their devices to stop working. As a result, owners had to contact Apple shops or authorised service centres to get their watches working again, as rolling back to the previous firmware version was not possible.

The main purpose of the update was to optimise the code and fix minor bugs such as fonts not displaying correctly in some widgets. However, one of the fixes caused serious problems, causing devices to freeze. A similar situation happened earlier with the iPadOS 18 update, which was also recalled due to crashes on iPad Pro with M4 processor.

According to the developers, the problem occurs during screen time tracking, likely when the system is trying to capture user actions on the watch. This could be the reason why Apple has recalled the latest beta version of watchOS and is now looking for ways to resolve the bug.
