Google embeds adverts in artificially generated responses
Google has started placing adverts in its artificial intelligence-generated answers. Users will now see products in some AI-generated search results.
Here's What We Know
For example, if you're looking for ways to remove a grass stain on your clothes, Google will offer not only tips but also products that can help. These products will be labelled as "sponsored" and will only appear if there is a commercial request.
Google has been testing ads in AI responses since May and is now launching them in full, claiming that it helps users find the products and services they need faster. For now, the adverts will only appear in the US on mobile devices.
Google is also changing the formatting of AI answers to make links to sources more prominent, which will increase traffic to supporting sites. Google is also launching AI-organised search pages that show relevant information instead of a list of links, but only for recipes and meal ideas in the US for now.
