Great job! Critics are excited about Silent Hill 2 Remake and give the horror film high marks
There are only four days left until the release of Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Right after the announcement and several controversial trailers of the updated version of the cult horror game, many gamers were sceptical about the remake and subjected the Polish studio Bloober Team to harsh and not always justified criticism. The head of the company Piotr Babieno claimed that the trailers did not reflect the real quality of the game, because Konami for some reason showed the public an outdated build of the horror.
And now we can state that Babieno was telling the truth and gamers will get a decent remake of Silent Hill 2.
Here's What We Know
Today the embargo on the publication of reviews and evaluations of Silent Hill 2 Remake has fallen and critics did not miss the opportunity to express their opinion.
Almost all experts agreed that Bloober Team did a great job and not only did not spoil the original horror, but also significantly improved some aspects of it.
With graphics and detailing everything is obvious: they have reached a qualitatively new level. Besides them, the developers have significantly improved gameplay, combat system, refined the puzzles and added three levels of difficulty for them, expanded some storylines, increased the timeline of the game and in general did a great job with the update of the cult horror.
At the same time, some reviewers noted that sometimes the innovations seem out of place, and the pace of the narrative feels uneven, but it doesn't really spoil the impression of the game.
As a result, Silent Hill 2 Remake received the following scores on aggregators:
- On Metacritic - 87 points (PS5) and 88 PC;
- on OpenCritic - 88 points with 91% of recommendations.
Recall, the original game (2001) received 89 points (PS2).
Thus, Silent Hill 2 remake becomes the highest rated game by Bloober Team and demonstrates the potential of the Polish studio.
When We Can Expect It
Silent Hill 2 Remake will be released on 8 October on PC and PS5.
