Developers from Alkimia Interactive studio answered the most pressing questions about the remake of the cult RPG Gothic, and from them several interesting theses became known.

Here's What We Know

The developers tried to make the remake as close to the original game as possible: it will be a complex, complex, exciting RPG with almost complete freedom of action and movement. All locations will be open to players from the very beginning and theoretically they will be able to go wherever they want, but in many places there are dangerous enemies that cannot be defeated without good equipment and developed character abilities, so it is necessary to choose the path wisely and avoid impossible dangers.

Freedom also applies to the passage of tasks. Most quests can be done in any sequence and often they provide several ways to achieve goals, and all decisions and actions taken by the player affect the relationship of characters to the protagonist and sometimes influence the plot and narrative.

Gothic Remake's playthrough time has been increased from 20 hours to 30 hours, and the developers are also looking to increase replayability to keep players interested in going through the RPG over and over again.

As in the original game, the main plot is inextricably linked to the Valley of Mines and Swamp Camp, but in the second and third chapters there will be new additional tasks.

The complex and multifaceted character development system will remain unchanged in the Gothic remake. Players will have to forge their own weapons, learn new "recipes", develop physical skills and magical abilities. For defeating enemies and completing quests, the hero receives experience points that can be spent on learning new spells and combat techniques, but for this, again, as in the original, you must first find an expert in the relevant techniques and ask him to teach the protagonist.

Interestingly, in the remake the protagonist will have access to magic a little earlier, and the game will introduce new abilities such as swimming and climbing vertical surfaces.

Players who will find the new Gothic too hardcore will be able to choose a lower difficulty level, but the developers noted that this will make the game less interesting and different from the original.

For those who are interested in the technical side of the game, game designers Alkimia mentioned that Gothic Remake is created on Unreal Engine 5 and supports Lumen, Nanite and ray tracing technologies.
On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series players will be offered "quality" and "performance" modes, with "some improvements" on the powerful PS5 Pro. PC will see support for frame generation anti-aliasing technologies, but which ones - not yet specified.

When We Can Expect It

It is still unknown when Gothic Remake will be released.

The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
