In mid-2023, the media reported that Ubisoft was developing a remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, one of the franchise's most popular and beloved games.

Since then, quite a bit of insider information has been released about the updated pirate action game, with even Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirming the development of several remakes.

Just a few days ago, insider Tom Henderson revealed that the postponement of Assassin's Creed Shadows would lead to an inevitable delay in the release of other games in the franchise, including the Black Flag remake, but now he's made another sensational claim.

Here's What We Know

Henderson claims that he got hold of documents, according to which the Black Flag remake, which is codenamed Obsidian, is not at an early stage of development, but at a much more advanced stage and will be released much sooner than many gamers expect.

Moreover, Tom Henderson has seen a clip with gameplay footage. On them Edward Kenway sails on a ship, and the stage is created on the updated Anvil engine.

Henderson specifies that the Black Flag remake will be just one part of Ubisoft's ambitious plan to release about ten games in the series in the next five years. If, of course, the French publisher manages to solve a huge pile of internal problems.
