The world's first virtual dog leash has been unveiled. But animal rights activists won't like it
Heel has developed a pet dog leash that saves owners from tangling ribbons underfoot.
Details
The manufacturer calls the Roam 350 the world's first virtual leash. It consists of a collar and a remote control that are linked wirelessly. Instead, it uses Autoprox's proprietary wireless technology, which does not require a cellular signal, Wi-Fi or GPS. This is especially true when walking in the woods, hiking together, etc.
Roam 350 allows the owner to determine the maximum freedom distance of his dog, i.e. the length of the virtual leash - from 3 to 229 metres. If your dog exceeds the distance you set, the collar will issue a warning or "correction".
The best part is that there are three methods for, so to speak, "behaviour correction": sound alert, vibration and electric shock. Heel urges responsible pet owners to follow all laws, regulations and common sense for their own and their pet's safety. However, why such an inhumane method as electric shock was added in the first place is unclear.
The leash is suitable for dogs weighing 4kg or more. It works autonomously, and one charge is enough from 4 to 8 days of walking for 4 hours depending on the mode. One remote is capable of controlling three leashes.
A set of the collar and remote costs $400.
