A jury in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas has ruled that Apple's Secure Enclave technology does not infringe on user verification patents owned by Identity Security LLC.
Here's What We Know
Identity Security filed a lawsuit in 2021 accusing Apple of infringing four patents, but the court ruled in favour of Apple.
In 2013, Apple introduced Secure Enclave with the iPhone 5s. This technology protects sensitive user data, including Face ID and Touch ID. Apple continues to use this technology in various devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Watch and HomePod.
It is not yet known whether Identity Security plans to appeal the court's decision.
