Apple plans to launch a new version of its AirTag tracking device in the first half of 2025. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, this will be the first major update since the launch of the original AirTag in 2021.

Here's What We Know

The new AirTag is expected to have a more advanced chip, likely to use the second-generation ultra-wideband (UWB) technology already used by the iPhone 15. This update is intended to significantly improve the device's tracking accuracy.

The original AirTag is powered by the U1 chip, which combines UWB and Bluetooth technology to integrate with Apple's Find My network. This compact device has an IP67-rated stainless steel housing that provides protection against moisture and dust.

Users can easily locate their AirTag thanks to the built-in speaker that plays audio through the Find My app. The device also has a loss mode that alerts users when it is out of range.

It is not yet known whether the design of the new AirTag will be changed. However, there are rumours about its integration with the Apple Vision Pro headset, the details of which remain a secret for now.
