After many rumours and leaks, MediaTek has announced a new Dimensity 9400 chipset built on TSMC's second generation 3nm process.

Here's What We Know

Like its predecessor, the Dimensity 9400 uses an All Big Core architecture with one ultra-powerful Cortex-X925 core with a maximum frequency of 3.62GHz, three powerful Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores. This provides 40 per cent more power efficiency, 35 per cent more performance in single-core tasks and 28 per cent more performance in multi-core tasks, compared to the Dimensity 9300.

Key features of Dimensity 9400

The chipset features the Immortalis-G925 GPU, which delivers 41% faster performance and 40% faster ray tracing. The eighth generation NPU supports Google Gemini Nano and offers 80 per cent faster performance in tasks with large language models. The chipset also supports on-device learning and high-resolution video generation.

The layout of the new Dimensity 9400 chipset

The Dimensity 9400 is capable of handling 8K video at 60 frames per second and supports WQHD+ resolution displays with refresh rates up to 180Hz. The new 5G modem delivers speeds of up to 7Gbps and the updated Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip consumes less power. The first smartphones with Dimensity 9400 will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
