Soldiers of the 409th Separate Rifle Battalion have captured a Russian satellite communications station R-448 in the Kursk region.

Here's What We Know

The battalion notes that the station was captured in its entirety. The R-448 station, manufactured by the Russian company ITIS, has similar characteristics to the Auriga station, but differs in having a collapsible antenna.

R-448 is designed to create two high-speed communication channels in Ku or C-bands using VSAT technology. The communication is carried out via spacecraft of the Express and Yamal orbital group, as well as via Blagovest broadband satellites in the C-band.

The station receives signals in the frequency range from 10950 to 11750 MHz and transmits from 13750 to 14500 MHz. The data rate varies from 32 to 4096 kbps.

The R-448 was adopted by the Russian Armed Forces in 2014. The total weight of the complex is 112.8 kg, and the antenna consists of six parts.
