Motorola has been granted a patent for a new motorised hinge technology for foldable smartphones that could make these devices much more functional.

Here's What We Know

According to the patent filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the motorised hinge allows the top of the smartphone to automatically adjust the angle. This means that the device will be able to change the position of the screen on its own, in particular during video chats or photography, ensuring that the user is always tracked in the frame.

This feature will be useful for making video calls, taking selfies or group photos more convenient. The technology can be built into a smartphone or sold as a separate accessory. It will allow for a more precise adjustment of the shooting angle than is possible with software solutions with wide-angle cameras.

Although the patent does not guarantee a product launch, it shows that Motorola is looking at new ways to improve foldable smartphones.
