A lot of online games are known for their toxicity, where instead of having fun, you will be insulted. And this pushes a certain number of players away from such games, but Activision is actively fighting against this.

Here's What We Know

ToxMod has been available in Call of Duty since June 2024. This is an AI-based moderation that automatically detects messages containing toxicity, reports it, and gives a punishment to the player, which can, for example, prohibit the use of chat for a certain period of time.

Modulate's ToxMod technology has reportedly reduced the use of voice chat to insult other players by 43%.

In July 2024, a month after the introduction of ToxMod, 80% of players who received a mandatory punishment did not reoffend.

According to Insider Gaming, ToxMod is so smart that it can distinguish between a friendly joke and a real insult by analysing the tone and mood of what someone is saying. It is also smart enough to determine the seriousness of a comment based on the reactions of other users.
