Adobe has announced the launch of the Firefly Video Model, "the world's first commercially secure, publicly available video generation model."
Here's What We Know
More than 13 billion unique images and videos have reportedly been generated since Firefly's beta release in March 2023, of which 6 billion have been created in the last six months.
Firefly works most effectively with other similar applications from Adobe such as Photoshop, Express and Illustrator, and is now available in Premiere Pro.
The main feature of Firefly that sets it apart from similar generative AI is its speed of use - anyone can briefly describe the video they want to create and the software will implement their request. Users can then fine-tune each scene of the video, set camera angles, lighting, depth, sharpness and other parameters and, most importantly, no programming knowledge or video editing expertise is needed for all these processes.
In Premiere Pro will add a function Generative Extend, which was previously used in Photoshop. With its help authors can expand the space in the video to make the transition between frames smoother and unnoticeable.
The commercial safety of Firefly lies in the fact that the generative AI is trained exclusively on materials that are in the public domain and are not protected by copyright, accordingly, everything that is created with its help is also not subject to legal claims and can be freely used and distributed at the will of the author.
Importantly, videos created with Firefly are tagged with Content Credentials, which helps in pinpointing the generated video.
