Taiwan deploys ships and aircraft in response to China's exercises

Taiwan has put its Navy, Air Force, and coastal defence systems on alert in response to the People's Republic of China's exercises.

In his speech, President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Lai said that the PRC "has no right to represent Taiwan", and he stressed that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait "do not obey" each other.

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence reported that as of Monday, 14 October, it had tracked 125 Chinese military aircraft and 34 coast guard ships and vessels operating around Taiwan.

In response to China's exercises, Taiwan's Ministry of Defence reported that it had deployed warships, fighter jets, UAVs and mobile anti-ship missile batteries.

In addition, they deployed the frigates Oliver Hazard Perry and Kang Ding to monitor the ships of the People's Liberation Army of China. Also, NCSIST Albatross UAVs and F-16 fighters were flying in the air for surveillance.

Taiwan's Defence Ministry spokesman Sun Li-Fang told the media that although China has already announced the end of the exercise, Taiwan's military will remain on high alert.
