Zelenskyy: One million drones promised by the state are already at the frontline
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the 1 million drones announced almost a year ago, which the state had pledged to purchase, are already at the front.
Here's What We Know
The President emphasised that this million drones is only the number purchased by the state. This number does not include the efforts of volunteers and other benefactors who support the initiative.
In addition, the President noted that this is only the beginning, and the state plans to significantly increase the procurement of necessary weapons for the frontline in order to save the lives of our soldiers.
The overall plan is to reach the production rate of 3 million unmanned aerial vehicles per year in various configurations and models, both to support infantry and to strike at the territory of the Russian Federation
"The total number of drones that we are now able to produce annually in Ukraine is 4 million, and more than a million and a half are already contracted," Zelensky said at the opening of the Second International Defence Industries Forum, which took place in early October 2024.
During his speech, he also noted that the Defence Forces are using a completely new class of Ukrainian weapon - the long-range drone missile Palianytsia. The President emphasised that other types of Ukrainian long-range drones and missiles are also being developed.
