We wrote that Microsoft introduced three new versions of the Xbox Series. But are there any changes other than visual ones? Yes, but only in the new Xbox Series X.

Here's What We Know

Microsoft has reduced the size of the system-on-chip (SoC) to 6 nm and switched to a new cooling solution. To do this, Microsoft uses the traditional copper heat pipe design.

The smaller chip (SoC) allows the new Xbox Series X to consume about 10 watts less power than the original model. When playing games, the original Xbox Series X consumes 167W, the discless model 156W, and the 2TB model 151W.

The motherboard has been completely redesigned, and many components have been simplified, reduced, or relocated. However, the noise level of the new models has not changed.

There is no longer a protective screen above the SSD drive. And the Series X model without a disc drive now has an empty space in place of the drive. But you can't just install the drive, as you'll have to solder the connectors for it.

What new Xbox models are now available?

  • Xbox Series X - 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition. Its body resembles the night sky covered with stars, and the memory has been expanded to 2 terabytes. The price is $600
  • Xbox Series X - 1TB Digital Edition (White). If you wanted a Series X without a disc drive, you can now get such a console, but keep in mind that it will be white. Price - $450
  • Xbox Series S - 1TB (White). Previously, the Series S was only available in black with a terabyte, but now you have the opportunity to get the white version. The price is $350.
