In 2021, the Danish studio IO Interactive - the author of the cult Hitman series - announced a sharp action game about James Bond under the working title Project 007.

Almost nothing is known about the game, but the developers are so confident in its success that they are already planning a sequel.

Here's What We Know

Head of IO Interactive Hakan Abrak in an interview with IGN portal reminded that the game will offer a completely new story about James Bond, not directly related to those that were in the novels and films.

He noted that the experience of creating many parts of Hitman helps in the development of Project 007 and allows the team to already think about creating a trilogy.

Hakan Abrak emphasised that "James Bond" is not the intellectual property of IO Interactive and the studio cannot guarantee that all its ideas will come to life, but Abrak would like the games of the potential trilogy to appeal to a young audience and for young gamers to grow with the release of new games about the world-famous special agent.

I don't want to say too much about it, but I hope we make something that will define James Bond in gaming for years to come. And it's not just one game, but we're creating a universe that gamers will enjoy for years to come and we can evolve with it, just like we did with the Bond films.

The developer hopes that the new game will repeat the success of GoldenEye 007 (1997).

It is currently unknown when Project 007 will be released, but it is unlikely to be in 2025.
