The film Dune: Part Two premiered in February 2024. The audience warmly welcomed the film, but the writer and director of the film Denis Villeneuve stated that he does not plan to return to work soon and hopes to rest and gain strength.

But, judging by his latest statement, the director's plans have changed dramatically.

Here's What We Know

In an interview with Deadline, Denis Villeneuve said "that he is not made for idleness" and has already started work on the script of the next film "Dune: Messiah" (Dune: Messiah), based on the second novel by Frank Herbert.

The events of the film will unfold 12 years after the finale of "Dune: Part 2" and will present familiar characters in completely new circumstances. The author emphasises that he treats the next film not as a sequel, but as a completely new story.

The director hopes that the audience will once again see Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh and Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead roles.

Villeneuve isn't giving any dates, but is enthusiastic and wants to start filming as soon as possible. "There will be more worms," the director jokingly adds, fuelling audience interest.
