iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max owners complain of random freezes and reboots of the smartphones

Owners of smartphones of the new iPhone 16 lineup have already encountered the first problems.

What is it this time

There seems to be a bug on the smartphones that causes random reboots and freezes. The display stops responding or is very slow to respond to touch input and then the iPhone quickly restarts.

Users started reporting about it on forums back in September, and to this day the complaints from them continue. The bug mostly occurs on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max smartphones. The iOS 18.0.1 and iOS 18.1 updates do not fix the problem - reboots continue even after installing the latest version of the software.

Most have only experienced the bug a few times, but there are cases where users have seen 10 to 20 crashes per day.

Apple has replaced some of the problematic smartphones with new ones, but the problem has recurred on those as well. In some cases, doing a new install without reinstalling from an iCloud backup seems to have resolved the issue, so it's possible that this is an iCloud-related bug.
