The Varan buggy, which can reach speeds of over 100 km/h on sand and carry 500 kg of cargo, has been approved for delivery by the Ministry of Defence
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has approved another vehicle for supply to the army - the Ukrainian Varan buggy.
Here's What We Know
The Varan buggy is a Ukrainian development, designed and manufactured at a Ukrainian enterprise. The Varan is based on a power frame for extremely difficult operating conditions. The buggy is equipped with a powerful turbo diesel engine and an automatic 5-speed transmission.
"The Varan is described as an all-terrain vehicle designed to perform a wide range of tasks: movement of personnel, evacuation of the wounded and ammunition transport.
This two-seater buggy weighs just over a tonne and can carry 500 kg of cargo or pull a trailer weighing up to 300 kg. And the tank capacity is enough for 200 km of heavy off-road travel.
If the Varan is on sand, it can reach speeds of over 100 km/h.
The Ministry of Defence also notes that the buggy never overturned during the tests. The Ukrainian engineer who designed the buggy was told the requirements for it by the military: it needed to be fast, manoeuvrable, maintainable, and as low as possible with high cross-country ability.
