Ukrainian airline Supernova Airlines receives permission to operate charter flights within the EU
On 21 October, the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine granted Supernova permission to operate Lviv-Prague-Lviv and Kyiv-Prague-Lviv routes. In addition, the European Union also granted the company a similar permit.
Here's What We Know
First of all, this is a technical procedure and it is rather necessary for the future: as soon as the airspace is opened, the Ukrainian company's aircraft will be able to transport people.
"To be able to fly immediately after the opening of Ukraine's airspace, we need to obtain a commercial permit. Obtaining this permit means that we will be able to fly these routes as soon as it becomes procedurally possible - that is, when the airspace is opened," the Nova Poshta press service told Suspilne.
In addition, on 22 October, Nova Poshta announced that Supernova now has permission to operate charter flights within the European Union. This was approved by the EU Aviation Safety Agency.
Such a permit is required for non-European airlines. This means that Supernova will now be able to operate commercial flights in the EU sky.
The airline's press service said that Supernova Airlines also plans to operate flights from the US to Europe, from China to Europe, as well as charter flights at the request of customers. In May 2023, the airline operated its first flight on the Riga - Rzeszow - Riga route. And on 18 September this year, Supernova flew its own Boeing 737-800SF aircraft under the Ukrainian flag for the first time.
