Turkish engineers unveiled the T625 Gökbey multirole helicopter and named its main characteristics
Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) has unveiled the T625 Gökbey multirole helicopter, which can be used for both military and civilian purposes.
Here's What We Know
Turkish aircraft designers have developed the T625 Gökbey as part of the National Helicopter Programme aimed at strengthening the country's aerospace capabilities.
When developing the helicopter, the designers aimed to create a machine consisting of domestic components as much as possible.
The T625 Gökbey multirole helicopter is equipped with two TEI TS1400 engines, each rated at 1,419 hp, which allows it to operate effectively in different climatic conditions and at different altitudes.
The stated characteristics of the T625 Gökbey are:
- main rotor - diameter 13.20 m;
- total length - 15.87 metres
- maximum take-off weight - 6,050 kg;
- maximum speed - 306 km/h;
- cruising speed - 278 km/h;
- flight range - 740 kilometres;
- fuel reserve - standard tank for 1,020 kg, additional external tank for 280 kg;
- capacity - up to 12 passengers and 2 crew members.
These characteristics make the helicopter multifunctional, capable of performing a wide range of tasks: carrying cargo, transporting passengers or evacuating the wounded or conducting search and rescue operations.
The T625 Gökbey is currently undergoing certification by the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
