Garmin has announced the start of a new beta testing cycle for software version 12.06 for its popular Vivoactive 5, Venu 3 and Venu 3S smartwatches.

Here's What We Know

This update must be downloaded manually. It focuses on improving the pool swimming experience. In particular, the rest screen and notification tones have been optimised.

This is the first update in the 12.xx cycle, with the previous 11.xx cycle ending with the release of stable version 11.16 in September. The release notes do not provide details on how users can see these improvements. The beta version is available to all users of the Venu 3 and Vivoactive 5, which are currently on sale on Amazon for $247.16.

Users can check for updates via the Settings menu on the watch system.

It is worth noting that the ECG function will be disabled during the beta test. Garmin encourages anyone who finds bugs to register them in the support forum, and those who wish to join the beta programme are invited to sign up via Garmin Connect.
