The US will start investing more in the production of long-range weapons in Ukraine
The United States considers investments in the production of long-range weapons in Ukraine, including attack drones, to be effective, as it helps develop the Ukrainian defence industry and reduces the burden on Western countries.
Here's What We Know
On Wednesday, during a visit to Rome, US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin said that the US is "committed to continuing to invest in their long-range strike capability".
He noted that the Ukrainians have already demonstrated the ability to mass-produce long-range drones "that are extremely effective."
"We have seen them hit targets 400 kilometres away from their border and even deeper," the minister said.
In addition, according to him, the developments of Ukrainian weapons manufacturers are much cheaper than the cost of ballistic missiles.
We are talking about the American ATACMS missiles with a range of 300 kilometres, which the Armed Forces also receive from the United States as part of military assistance.
"So, it makes sense to invest in these capabilities, in their ability to scale up in the future. And I think it meets their needs not only now but also in the future," Austin added.
