HONOR announced in China the new MagicOS 9.0 operating system based on Android 15. The platform integrates artificial intelligence to improve performance and security, as well as provide personalised features.

Here's What We've Seen

The update includes an improved AI assistant called YOYO Agent, which simplifies interaction with the device and adapts to the user's habits. The bot can perform tasks such as ordering food, managing notifications and comparing product prices.

MagicOS 9.0 also features the Turbo X graphics engine, which increases rendering speed by 40 per cent and reduces power consumption by 11 per cent. The OS maintains smooth performance on demanding tasks, achieving up to 119.9 FPS.

HONOR has focused on security in its new OS by introducing a facial swap detection tool that aids in detecting fraudulent videos and combating dipfakes.

The Smart Capsules feature, in the style of Dynamic Island on the iPhone, provides real-time updates and shows various notifications, such as weather changes, without interrupting workflow.

Other AI tools include AI Notes for recording appointments and creating summaries, AI Document for creating mind maps and comparing documents, and Magic Photo Editor for editing photos. The OS also includes a fitness trainer and travel assistant, syncs messages and calls between smartphones and smart watches, and offers more than 20 new lock screen styles.

MagicOS 9.0 will debut in November 2024 alongside the HONOR Magic 7 series and will be available for 33 devices thereafter. A global version of this operating system will soon be available to users around the world.
