Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirms price increase for Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro series
The Xiaomi 15 series, which has recently become official, includes two new flagship smartphones: a standard model and a Pro. Both are powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, but they will cost more than their predecessors.
Here's What We Know
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed that prices for Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro will increase. In a post on Weibo, he noted that Xiaomi 14 was the last model with a starting price of 3999 yuan (approximately $562). This year, the company has invested heavily in research and development, and component costs have risen, necessitating a price increase.
According to preliminary reports, the base price of Xiaomi 15 will start at 4599 yuan (about 646 dollars), which is 600 yuan more expensive than its predecessor. As for the Pro model, its price is likely to start at 5299 yuan (approximately $745), which is 300 yuan more than before.
On the international market, prices may be even higher. For example, the Xiaomi 14 Pro was not launched outside of China, and the standard model was sold from 1000 euros (about 1080 dollars). So there is a possibility that the Xiaomi 15 could start at around $1300 on the global market.
